State fire marshal officials and the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department are investigating a fire that took the life of a 32-year-old woman.
Bulloch County Central 911 received a call around 2:45 a.m. Monday regarding a house fire on Reedy Branch Road and dispatched Nevils volunteer firefighters to the scene. They were assisted by firefighters from the Statesboro, Register and Bay District fire departments, said Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn.
Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies also responded to the scene, and Investigator Jason Long began an investigation into the fire, he said.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said three occupants of the house were able to escape, but Pamela Porter, 32, was killed in the blaze.
Pamela Porter was killed in the fire that occurred around 2:30 a.m. Monday at a house on Reedy Branch Road, he said.
"The house was found to be fully engulfed upon their arrival," Anderson said. "The cause of the fire has not been determined."
Bulloch County Sheriff's Investigator Jason Long contacted the state fire marshal's office to aid in the investigation, Wynn said.
Tuesday, Long and state fire marshal Dan Mealor returned to the scene and continued the investigation. Additional details regarding the fire and its possible causes were not immediately available Tuesday.
