Southeast Bulloch High School Principal Trey Robertson, a fixture in the Bulloch County school system, is stepping down from his position to pursue an opportunity in Bryan County.

According to a news release issued Monday, Robertson has accepted an assistant superintendent position with Bryan County Schools, effective July 1.

Robertson officially announced that the 2012-13 year would be his last with SEBHS, during a meeting with staff Friday morning.

In a statement provided to Bulloch County Schools, Robertson said: "I want to thank the Board of Education for the tremendous opportunities that have been afforded to me. It has been my privilege to serve at two of the finest schools in Bulloch County. Both schools have been a blessing to me professionally and personally."

During a 12-year career in Bulloch County, Robertson served as a popular principal of two schools, Mill Creek Elementary and Southeast Bulloch High. He has served as an assistant principal at the elementary and high school level, teacher and coach.

During his tenure at SEB, Robertson helped oversee the construction of a new $5 million athletic complex, oversaw construction of the John F. Spence Agricultural Facility, expanded Advanced Placement course offerings and increased the number of students taking pre-AP and AP classes, increased the number of instructional computer labs, and led faculty in increasing or maintaining high test scores in all subject areas, the release said.

"We appreciate Dr. Robertson's years of service, and we wish him well," Bulloch County Schools Superintendent Charles Wilson said. "We have posted the position, and we will be looking both internally and externally for the best leadership option for Southeast Bulloch High."

In his upcoming role, assistant superintendent of operations and student services, Robertson will oversee several departments in the Bryan County district, including maintenance, facilities, transportation, athletics and food services.

In a statement addressing five new hires made by Bryan County Schools Friday, including that of Robertson, Bryan County Schools Superintendent Paul Brooksher said: "There is nothing more important to the success of an organization than the people who work for the organization. I want to commend the Board of Education for their commitment to finding the very best for Bryan County Schools and truly look forward to the positive impact each new leader will have on our school system."

Southeast Bulloch High is one of the Bulloch County district's three high schools and the third largest of the district's 15 campuses, with slightly less than 900 students.
