The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $500 reward for information leading to arrests in connection with several recent automobile break-ins.Suspects have struck twice in the past three nights, plundering vehicles in the Hunters Pointe and Glen Oaks subdivisions in Statesboro on Saturday night and Sunday morning, then ransacking vehicles in the Cambridge and Lenox Hills subdivisions in Brooklet on Monday night and Tuesday morning, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.Although there was evidence of forced entry to a small number of the vehicles, the vast majority were unlocked, he said. Residents should always lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report any suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods immediately to the sheriff’s office or 911, he said. While many cars and trucks were just ransacked and nothing taken, in several cases checkbooks, money, purses and other items were stolen. A number of items taken from the vehicles were recovered in neighboring yards or in other areas, according to reports.Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Jared Akins at (912) 764-1989 or Investigator Walter Deal at (912) 764-1788.
