Editor's note: This article was revised on July 31, 2013, to remove the name of an individual whose arrest record associated with this sting operation. The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office said the offense with which this man was charged was restricted from public view as of that date.
Statesboro Police arrested two women and five men last week after an undercover sting aimed at prostitution and pandering, said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner.
The Statesboro Police Crime Suppression Unit and Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team worked in tandem to conduct the operation at several locations in Statesboro, he said.
In the past, the Statesboro Police Department used undercover male officers to conduct similar stings, but this time an undercover female officer was used, said Statesboro Police Major Scott Brunson.
Some were charged with pandering, which means soliciting sex for pay from another person, he said.
One woman was charged with pimping, which means she arranged sex with a prostitute for pay, he said.
After the operation was completed, officers arrested the following on listed charges: Rose Michelle Roberts, 44, South College Street – pimping: Vianca Lucille Jones, 21, South College Street – prostitution; Jarquez Martique Cooper, 25, U.S. 80 West – pandering, criminal attempt to sell marijuana, unlawful use of communication facilities.
Also, Blake Edward Anderson, 26, Mt. Zion Church Road, Glennville – pandering; Justin E. Tobias, 22, Ft. Stewart – pandering; and Antwan Lamontel Daniels, 22, Mills Lane Boulevard, Savannah – pandering.
Another man was charged with pandering, but the documentation associated with that charge was restricted from public view as of July 31, 2013, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.
Turner said all suspects were taken to the Bulloch County Jail and are being held pending first appearance and bond hearings.
