➤ Statesboro Police Department 

▲ EASON STREET — A man was taken by EMS to the hospital after being beaten by a known suspect on a walking trail. The suspect hit the victim in the head and on the body about eight times with a stick.

▲ MERCHANT’S WAY — Someone reported a burglary in which a large amount of oxycodone, Oxycontin and cough syrup with codeine was stolen.

▲ BELK — Two men were arrested after shoplifting a hat and clothing worth $68.

In a separate case, a person was charged with shoplifting two hygiene items worth $48 each.

▲ EAGLE COURT CONDOMINIUMS — A person was arrested on battery charges after a domestic dispute.

▲ NORTH FOSS STREET — A woman borrowed her grandmother’s car and returned it with a broken windshield, so the grandmother broke the windshield of the granddaughter’s car.

▲ LOVESTRUCK/COLLEGE PLAZA — A person shoplifted a $20 item. No arrests were made.

▲ OLLIE’S — A person returned to the store after previously leaving without paying for items. The suspect was cited and banned from the store.

▲ LANIER DRIVE — A woman reported receiving harassing texts.

▲ WAL-MART SUPERCENTER — A person told police they were threatened by another person’s actions in the store.


➤ Georgia State Patrol Post 45

▲ Last week, troopers investigated 15 crashes with four reported injuries and arrested five drivers on DUI charges.

▲ Troopers also issued 36 citations and 17 warnings for seatbelt violations, eight citations and one warning for child restraint violations, and 145 citations and 139 warnings for speeding.


➤ Georgia Southern University Police 

▲ Officers issued no traffic citations and two traffic warnings and assisted three motorists.

▲ OLD REGISTER ROAD — Officers assisted Statesboro police with an unspecified call.
