Police: Man flees home, steals boat after arrest attempt
JOHNATHAN SHANE OWENS
Owens

The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in finding a man who escaped arrest Monday afternoon.
It started on Sunday, when deputies responded to a home in the 300 block of Pintail Lane in Country Lakes Estates for a domestic dispute.
As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Johnathan Shane Owens, 24, of Pintail Lane, charging him with simple battery (family violence), reckless conduct and third-degree cruelty to children, according to a sheriff's office news release.
Owens had left the home before deputies arrived, the release says.
At 3 p.m. Monday, patrol and warrants deputies tried to serve the arrest warrants on Owens at his home. He fled on foot to a nearby pond, stole a boat, crossed the water and then concealed himself in thick woods, the sheriff's office said.
Despite deputies' efforts, Owens eluded capture, the release says.
Additional warrants have been issued charging Owens with obstruction and theft by taking.
Owens is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches, 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Owens' whereabouts is asked to contact a warrants deputy at (912) 764-1771 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
