Statesboro Police arrested a man Tuesday they said is responsible for at least 15 burglaries in the area. Lamars Gavin, 33, Finch’s Trailer Park, is behind bars, charged with 15 counts of burglary, theft by taking, and marijuana possession, aid Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
Statesboro Police detectives have been “investigating a series of  burglaries in the residential area around Lester Road, extending over to an area around East Jones Avenue,” he said. “These burglaries began on Dec. 11 (2007) and continued until Jan. 8.”
As detectives delved into the details, they identified Gavin as a suspect, he said. Criminal Investigative Division and Crime Suppression Unit officers located him Tuesday near East Jones Avenue ad Broad Street and took him into custody, charging him with  burglary, theft by taking and marijuana possession after they caught him with “stolen property from some of these burglaries and a small quantity of marijuana,” Williams said.
The theft by taking charge stems from the theft of a bicycle, he said.
Gavin is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail and awaits further court action, he said.
Williams asked that anyone with information about the case call Det. James Winskey, lead detective in the case, at 764-1542.
