A man suspected of a hit-and-run accident and driving under the influence fled from deputies early Friday but was arrested after crashing into a light pole and a second vehicle.
Martin Taylor Floyd, 19, of Touchdown Court, struck a woman’s pickup truck near the intersection of Langston Chapel and Burkhalter roads around 1:09 a.m., Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.
Floyd left the scene, but deputies located him a short time later on Langston Chapel Road. Cpl. Rey Rodriguez tried to stop Floyd, but he continued driving and the deputy pursued him to Burkhalter Plantation, Anderson said.
There, Floyd “struck several fixed objects including a light pole and a parked car,” the sheriff said. When Floyd crashed his truck into a final object, he fled on foot, Anderson said.
“He was located a short distance away and taken into custody … transported to the Bulloch County Jail and charged with multiple traffic charges including fleeing and attempt to elude, DUI, and hit and run,” the sheriff said.
No one was injured. Requests for footage from Rodriguez’s patrol car were denied because it might be used in court, Anderson said.
