Police: Armed robber shot with own gun

    Police said a man who robbed another at gunpoint ended up shot in the arm by his own gun during a struggle with the victim.
    Nattiel Akeem Campbell, 20, West Jones Avenue, was injured when he held a man at gunpoint just before 4 a.m Tuesday on College Lane, said Statesboro Police Major J. R. Holloway.
    Campbell and Kendall D-Angelo Eason, 20, Butler Homes, were both involved in the armed robbery of a male victim, who ended up in a struggle with Campbell during the robbery, he said.
    Statesboro Police Det. Tommy Brown and other officers from the SPD Criminal Investigations Division responded to the call regarding a gunshot incident around 3:55 a.m. Tuesday and learned Campbell suffered from a shot to the arm, he said.
    Apparently during the melee Campbell's firearm discharged, resulting in he injury, he said.
    Brown recovered the firearm, a small caliber revolver, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash that was taken from  the victim, Holloway said.
    Police took Campbell into custody after he was treated at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm y a convicted felon, false statements and writings, discharging a firearm near or on a highway, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
    Eason is charged with armed robbery, false statements and writings, and possession of a firearm during  the commission of a crime.
