Bulloch County Sheriff's officials are seeking a man they said invaded a Portal area home and attacked a man with whom he had an ongoing dispute.

Douglas " Buddy" Donaldson, 25, Bowen Road (Lake Collins community) entered a Cowboy Way residence the evening of April 30 and attacked a man with whom he has had an "ongoing conflict," said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.

Donaldson was not alone. Ashley Troy Berry, 23, Edenfield Road, Metter, was with him during  the home invasion-style assault, he said.

When the two men burst into the home and began striking the 19-year-old victim, the victim's mother " recognized both by sight" and called 911, he said.

Donaldson used a set of brass knuckles in the assault, according to witnesses. One witness gave a statement that Donaldson bragged about using the brass knuckles in the attack, Anderson said.

After dialing 911, the victim's mother grabbed a knife and threatened to use it in defense of her son, he said. After the incident deputies noted blood in the home, but it came from the physical altercation between the men. No one was injured by the knife, he said.

The victim suffered visible injuries but did not require hospitalization, he said.

Donaldson is still at large, and deputies are seeking information regarding his whereabouts, Anderson said. Warrants have been taken out for Donaldson on charges of aggravated assault and burglary.

Berry turned himself in and was charged with aggravated assault and burglary as well. He remains behind bars at the Bulloch County Jail, without bond, Anderson said.

The case is being turned over to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office and will be heard before a grand jury, he said.

Anyone with information regarding Donaldson's location is asked to contact Inv. Jared Akins at (912) 764-8888.
