Two people were arrested Monday after someone tried to sell a stolen grill and pull-behind trailer to a pawn shop, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 7, deputies were notified of the theft of the grill from a home on U.S. Highway 80 East in Brooklet. Be-on-the-lookout alerts were distributed and posted on Facebook, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release.
On Monday, staff at Pawn City of Statesboro contacted sheriff’s investigators, saying they believed someone was trying to sell the stolen grill. The person trying to sell the cooker told investigators that he had received it in a trade from someone living at Park Place Apartments on Lanier Drive, Anderson said.
Investigators drove to the apartment complex and saw where the grill had been, in front of a unit. They also found a trailer that had been stolen from Kirby, Texas, at that unit, the sheriff
said.
The occupants of the apartment — Loronzo Lanier Rogers and Tynisha Danielle Jones, 35 — were arrested and charged with one count each of felony theft by receiving stolen property and felony receiving stolen property stolen in another state. They were taken to the Bulloch County Jail pending further judicial action.
Anderson extended thanks to the management of Pawn City for their assistance in recovering the stolen grill.
