Ogeechee Technical College and the Stay in School Project recently played host to best-selling author and acclaimed speaker Chad Foster.
Foster travels the country speaking to hundreds of thousands of students and educators. In three high-energy sessions, Foster spoke to more than 900 Bulloch-area 8th graders with a message of pursuing dreams, communication skills, and knowledge. His book, “Teenagers Preparing for the Real World,” was distributed to each student in attendance and Foster was happy to autograph books for the students.
Jeanne Anne Marsh, Stay in School Project Coordinator at Ogeechee Tech, said, “We had Chad here last year to speak and had such a positive reaction from students that we wanted to have him back. We would like for this to be an annual event so that each year’s 8th graders have a chance to hear his powerful message before entering high school.”
Students attended from a variety of middle schools, including, Southeast Bulloch, Bulloch Academy, Langston Chapel, Claxton, and the Charter Conservatory.
In addition, a number of Ogeechee Tech employees and students attended the presentations. A number of other area middle schools were invited but could not attend due to conflicts.
Ogeechee Tech President, Dr. Dawn Cartee, said, “Chad is a fantastic speaker and his motivational message is inspiring to anyone, but is especially important for students to hear at this point in their education. If we can do something to help students feel good about themselves and their potential, then we will have accomplished what we set out to do by having Chad here.”
