Ogeechee Area Hospice was recently recognized as a 2016 recipient of the Hospice Honors Program.
The official list of recipients, including 258 hospices from across the nation, was unveiled at the welcome reception of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization's Conference in Washington DC.
"This prestigious award recognizes top performing hospices for their high level of quality care, hard work and dedication," said Bobby Robertson, president of HealthCare First.
Award criteria was based on results of a national survey, known as the "Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey." The survey is mailed to families of patients under the care of all hospices in the U.S.
Recipients were identified by evaluating each hospices' performance on a set of 24 quality indicators. The award recipients scored above the national average, as compared to a national performance score of approximately 1,600 hospice providers that utilize HealthCare First Inc.
