Newk’s Eatery, located next to Popeyes and Dunkin’ on Highway 80 East, across from Lowe’s, is getting ready to hoist its main road sign, shown above on Wednesday, that will be posted next to Highway 80. 

Rick Howard, a Georgia Southern graduate and former law enforcement officer, is the principal owner of the restaurant, which is expected to open in late August or early September. 

Described as a fast/casual restaurant, Newk’s offers salads, sandwiches, soups and pizzas, all made in the restaurant’s kitchen without fryers or microwaves. Newk's Eatery has about 100 units in 12 states.
