Statesboro Magazine, a community lifestyles publication founded seven years ago by Andrea Powell, became part of Morris Multimedia, Inc. last week.
“This purchase is consistent with our vision for growing our company through publications intended for both broadly based audiences as well as very targeted audiences,” said Morris Multimedia chairman Charles Morris. “Our newspapers and shoppers do a good job of reaching mass audiences, while our real estate books and publications like Statesboro Magazine do a good job reaching specific audiences.”
Morris Multimedia is based in Savannah and also owns the Statesboro Herald.
“I want to personally say thank you to our readers and our advertisers who have shown tremendous support for this magazine since its first issue. Seven years ago I had a dream to showcase through human-interest stories why this town is the best place in America to live, work, and play,” Powell said. “Statesboro Magazine’s mission was always to promote economic development and attract visitors and new residents to the area. As Statesboro Magazine joins the Morris family of publications, I see a whole new realm of opportunity.”
“The new ownership allows Statesboro Magazine to expand its depth and scope of editorial and to increase its distribution area,” said Karen Powell, who will continue as editor of the award-winning magazine. “The stories about the wonderful people, places and events in this area are what our readers love, and I look forward to this opportunity to go right on sharing them.”
Jenny Starling Foss will continue with the magazine as Advertising Director, a role she assumed two years ago. Amanda Galpin will continue as graphic designer, the position she has held since the magazine’s inception.
The offices for the magazine will be at 6 North Walnut Street in Statesboro.
