A man was a victim in a "drive-by" robbery Saturday night on Chandler Road near Georgia Southern University.

Around 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Statesboro police responded to the scene and spoke with a victim who said he was "walking on Chandler Road near Plant Drive when a white Cadillac Escalade stopped beside him," Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said. "The Escalade was occupied by four males who asked the victim to approach the vehicle."

Two of the men flashed handguns and demanded money. "The victim gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the offenders who then left in the vehicle," he said.

The victim walked to a nearby convenience store and contacted police, who searched the area, but found no car matching the one described by the victim, he said.

The victim described the subjects in the vehicle as four black males. The victim was not injured during the robbery, Turner said.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Detective Kevin Wadley at the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.
