Man punches mother, smashes candy jar on her

A man attacked his mother Friday, punching her repeatedly before smashing a candy jar into her head.
    Jerry Donta Allen, 24, of Simmons Lane, fled after the attack and evaded arrest for two days, but was apprehended Sunday, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.
    Deputies were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. Friday to the victim’s G.W. Oliver Road home, responding to a call about a “violent domestic dispute,” Anderson said.
    Bulloch County 911 operators told deputies they could “hear someone screaming and glass breaking in the background and someone said there was blood all over,” according to sheriff’s incident reports. “Upon arrival deputies located the victim … suffering from extensive blunt force trauma to her face.”
    Witnesses told deputies that Allen punched his mother with in the face repeatedly before grabbing the candy dish and bashing her in the head with it, Anderson said.
    Incident reports state that the victim suffered a severe eye injury and a bloody nose.
    After the attack, Allen fled before deputies arrived. Witnesses said he is “mentally challenged and he left the home running,” reports state.
    Allen was located Sunday and taken into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault (violation of the Family Violence Act) and is being held in the Bulloch County Jail without bond, awaiting further court proceedings, Anderson said.
