A Pembroke man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle struck a car turning left.

According to Georgia State Patrol reports, Jessie S. Callaway, 22, of North Main Street in Pembroke, was traveling south on Bennett Grooms Road around 6:35 p.m., when he tried passing two vehicles in front of him, traveling in the same direction.

The crash occurred near Henry Futch Road, reports state.
Toni Michelle Barnard, 32, of Crossway Cottages Lane in Statesboro, was tuning left into a private driveway and was using her turn signal to indicate the turn, reports state.

Callaway was trying to pass both vehicles, and while he reportedly tried to maneuver to avoid a collision, struck Barnard's vehicle as she turned, a trooper said.

An unidentified person in a car between Callaway and Barnard's car was listed as a witness in reports, which were incomplete Monday.

Callaway was transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was pronounced dead, Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said.
