Man charged with assault after stabbing girlfriend

A man walked into a convenience store near Interstate 16 and Highway 301 Tuesday night and admitted to stabbing his girlfriend. The victim survived, and the man was jailed on aggravated assault and other charges. Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown said James Walter Saggus, 46, of Willow Street in Woodville, walked into PoJo’s convenience store around 7 p.m. Tuesday, having walked from the Patriot Inn on the other side of the interstate, and said he “made a mistake and stabbed his girlfriend.”
