A man was arrested Saturday night after another man was stabbed during a party, police said.
The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office responded at 9:40 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 400 block of Coaches Way, in the Burkhalter Plantation subdivision, for a stabbing, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Monday.
On arrival, deputies found a 20-year-old man "suffering from a significant, but not life-threatening, stab wound to his arm." He was taken by Bulloch EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment, the release says.
An investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect, identified as Kendall Marshall Prevatte, 20, of Hephzibah, were both at a party in the home. The men knew one another previously, but a disagreement over a spilled drink at the party led to an argument, according to the release.
Prevatte left the home but returned a short time later to pick up someone else. The argument between Prevatte and the victim continued, leading to Prevatte stabbing the victim, the release says. Police added that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
Prevatte was taken to the Bulloch County Jail pending further judicial action. He is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and underage possession of alcohol.
