A Statesboro woman faces several charges, including murder, in the death of her father, whose body was found Monday in the woods near Palmetto Court Apartments on Highway 301 North.
Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch identified the victim as David Kenimer, 58. Statesboro police charged Melissa Sue Kenimer, 38, Highway 301 North, Wednesday with felony murder, concealing a death, financial transaction card theft, and financial transaction card fraud, said Statesboro Police Community Information Specialist Madison Bridges.
Police began investigating what they called an “unattended … suspicious death” Monday after the manager of Palmetto Court Apartments called to report finding human remains, she said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.
After sending the remains to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, autopsy results revealed David Kenimer’s death was the result of homicide. His body was found after “several weeks” from the time of death, she said.
Neither she nor Futch would disclose details of how David Kenimer was killed.
Melissa Sue Kenimer, who was wanted on probation violation charges, was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where she remains without bond and is awaiting further court action
The case was turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
