Some protesters at rally didnt make sense

People just don’t make much sense anymore. I took three of my kids to see the president when he was in Statesboro last Monday. We got up early and went on over there to Hanner and got in line. About an hour and 20 minutes later, we were inside. President Bush came in after a while and gave a pretty good speech by my estimation. Regardless of your politics, it was nice to have him in Statesboro.
When the rally was over, we walked outside with the rest of the crowd. Our car was parked up Fair Road towards town so we walked up to the street to make our way back to the car. There, across Fair Road, just up from Dr. Hood’s Volkswagen, were the protesters. I support their right to be there and it was educational for my kids to see them. However, some of what I observed just didn’t make sense. For example, one protester had a sign that said “When Clinton Lied, No One Died”. What did that sign mean? Is lying OK so long as no one gets hurt? What’s Clinton got to do with President Bush being in Statesboro anyway? I suppose they were trying to say that President Bush lied about the war in Iraq and that was bad. I didn’t see any signs saying that John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards or any of the Democrats that said there were WMDs over there lied. I guess their lies are OK. The sign would have been better if it had said “When Democrats Lie, it’s O.K.”.
I saw another sign that said “Who Would Jesus Bomb?”. Another mystery … what was this person trying to say? I guess they wanted to say that President Bush is not like Jesus. Well, surprise!, he’s not Jesus. He’s the commander in chief. It’s his job to bomb folks that need bombing. Also, that person should try reading the bible. How about Genesis 18 and 19 for a start? As best I remember, a couple of wicked cities out on the plains below the Dead Sea got a pretty good bombing from heaven. I wonder why this guy didn’t have a sign saying “Who Would Jesus Abort?” Probably because they really don’t want us to consider what Jesus would do in our day.
Finally, to be fair, I read in the paper about some guy complaining because he or his kid didn’t get in to see the president. His response was that he would not vote for Max Burns. Here’s another example of how people don’t make sense anymore. How can someone base such an important decision on not getting into Hanner Fieldhouse to see the president? I could understand if he said, “I’m not voting for Max Burns because of his stand on immigration” or some other important issue. This not voting for someone because a building is too small is like saying l won’t vote for him because he was born on a Monday. Get serious and take your responsibilities seriously. Or maybe better yet, get a sign that says “When Max Lied About Getting In, I Voted for Barrow”.
