Letter Superintendent letter bothers reader

Editor:
I was very embarrassed when I read the Letter to the Editor (Sunday, November 19, 2006) written by our superintendent of Bulloch County Schools about the Southeast Bulloch High School coach.
Although it was my understanding that personnel issues were supposed to be confidential, that is not what really bothered me.
It was not the content of the letter, but rather the quality of the letter which bothered me.
This letter was written by the person who holds the highest office in the Bulloch County School system. Consequently, anything going out over her signature represents the Bulloch County Board of Education, as well as all the citizens of Bulloch County.
However, I soon came to the conclusion that she must be mortified about this letter being in print and distributed "far and wide" where it might generate ridicule.
I began to feel sorry for her, since as a former English teacher at Statesboro High School, she knows about such things as subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences and the need for text to be coherent and to make sense.
I can surmise only that this letter was a rough draft, that it was sent out without her knowledge, and that she had intended to write an "edited version" before sending it to the paper.
