GSU event Friday not 1906 Society Gala

While we are thankful and appreciative for the Herald's wonderful coverage of our Capital Campaign celebration and the kick-off of our Centennial observance, I must correct an error in Saturday's paper.
Our event Friday evening was for donors who contributed $10,000 and above to the five-year Campaign for National Distinction. It was not the traditional 1906 Society Gala. Neither the invitations nor the program on Friday referred to this event as the 1906 Gala.
To our hundreds of 1906 Society members who may have been confused, please accept our apologies.
The next traditional 1906 Gala will be held in October 2007, during Homecoming Weekend. That event will mark the end of our 10-month long Centennial celebration
We appreciate all donor support to our university.
