After a two-year investigation, Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team investigators arrested five suspects they said were involved in drug trafficking.
Investigators have been collecting evidence and testimony from witnesses for two years, said Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Inv. Bryan Kingery. The evidence collected led drug agents to secure warrants and they searched the home of Genia Diane Ward, 52, Lee Avenue Extension, in Brooklet, he said.
There they discovered "about one and a half pounds of marijuana, 35 grams of methamphetamine and $463 cash," he said.
A quantity of methamphetamine was found in the bedroom of the home belonging to Ward's adult son, Terry Duane Ward, 35, resulting in his being charged with methamphetamine possession, Kingery said.
Then investigators searched the J. W. Lane, Brooklet home of  Bobby Eugene "Sonny" Smith, 51,   and found "$7,660 in cash, about three ounces plus of meth, and a small amount of marijuana, less than an ounce," he said.
Investigators also discovered several shotguns, rifles and hand guns in the residence, he said.
Smith was charged with trafficking in methamphetamines, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and  marijuana possession. Also charged in  the raid were Connie Jo Roberts, 48, also of J. W. Lane, Brooklet and Ernest Micheall "Doc" Lipford, 50, Jerrard Avenue, Savannah.
Roberts was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He was convicted of felony drug charges in the 1980's, Kingery said.
Lipford, whom investigators located in a shop outside the home, was found to have methamphetamine in his pockets and was charged with methamphetamine possession, he said.
The suspects were taken to the Bulloch County Jail where they are being held without bond, according to jail records.
Investigators also seized numerous vehicles at the scene, he said.
