After about three weeks of being closed for repairs, a portion of Highway 24 was reopened to traffic last week.
The portion of Highway 24 between Five Chop and Clito roads had been closed to repair a drainage structure under the roadway. Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance crews replaced the faulty drain "with an upgraded box culvert," said DOT spokesperson Jill Nagle.
The drain pipe was likely damaged by excessive rainfall, she said.
