Gov. Nathan Deal and first lady Sandra Deal are asking Georgians to join them Saturday in "With a Servant's Heart," a statewide day of service.

The Georgia Department of Education is supporting this call to service by hosting a book drive for children at City of Refuge in Atlanta. You are asked to consider donating one or more new, unused children's books.

Donations can be dropped off at several locations around the state, including the First District Regional Educational Service Agency, 201 W. Lee St. in Brooklet.

The education department encourages all Georgians to participate in this day of service. If you would like to participate further, you can find the details on Facebook by searching "With a Servant's Heart."

"Serving others and giving back to our communities is very important to me," said State School Superintendent-elect Richard Woods. "This book drive reinforces my commitment to literacy. I encourage all Georgians to join with us this week by donating new books for our kids."
