Statesboro Police Detective Terry Briley is investigating a report of possible elder abuse at a local assisted living facility. An elderly male resident of Gentilly Gardens, on Gentilly Road, recently suffered "suspicious injuries," said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
The facility director, Christopher Purser, notified police Thursday of the resident's condition, which York said consisted of bruises and superficial injuries.
Briley and other detectives are interviewing Gentilly Gardens employees, he said. The case is in preliminary stages of investigation. The possible charges — unlawful acts against disabled or elderly persons — is a felony, he said.
