Early voting today for Senate runoff

Lines won’t be likely today as some voters get in early to cast ballots for the run off elections.  Bulloch County Probate Judge Lee DeLoach said he only expects about 15 percent of the county’s voters to show up at the polls.
Today from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 1:30 to 5 p.m., voters can go to the Bulloch County Courthouse and cast their votes between U.S. Senate incumbent Saxby Chambliss, Republican, or Democratic challenger Jim Martin.
Republican Lauren W. McDonald Jr. opposes Democrat Jim Powell to succeed Angela Elizabeth Spier as Public Service Commissioners, and in a nonpartisan race, Sara Doyle opposes Mike Sheffield to succeed Georgia Court of Appeals Judge John H. Ruffin.
The actual election date is Dec. 2, but voters can cast ballots early today or wait for the advance vote Nov. 24, 25 and 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., DeLoach said.
Although the election isn’t as exciting as some, it is an important one, he said.
“I’d like to encourage people to come on out and vote, “ he said. “I don’t expect any lines.”
There were lines during early voting and regular voting during the presidential election, especially  at the courthouse during early voting at Pittman Park Precinct on election day.
