Longtime Statesboro businesswoman Devra Walker died Thursday in Savannah, following a brief illness, according to Tracy Joiner, co-owner of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory. Joiner said Joiner-Anderson would handle the funeral arrangements, but no services have been announced.

Walker opened Walker Pharmacy with her husband, Lindsay, in 1984. Walker was named Business Leader of the Year by the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce in 2013.

Walker graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1983, with a bachelors degree in accounting. She later achieved a master's in accounting and carried a 4.0 GPA through graduate school.  A member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, she served as president of the Southeast Division.

Walker was honored as a past Business Woman of the Year by the Professional Women of Statesboro.
