When Statesboro City Council gathers for a regularly scheduled meeting today, much its focus will be given to bolstering the city’s fleet of service vehicles.
Councilmen will meet in City Hall’s council chambers at 6 p.m., where they could decide to spend more than $500,000 for the new equipment.
Motions being considered, according to the meeting agenda, would allow for the purchase of two utility trucks ($68,184), a pair of refuse trailers ($128,800), a new knuckle-boom trash loader truck ($124,097) and a new front loader commercial refuse truck ($206,995).
Council will also vote on a motion to award a construction contract in the amount of $1.03 million for the erection of an elevated water storage tank at Gateway Industrial Park II.
The officials will enter into an executive session to discuss “personnel matters” and possible “litigation matters” prior to adjourning the meeting.
