Heart of Dixie was one of several local organizations who took advantage of Super Bowl Sunday to raise money.
According to a study by the American Institute of Food Distribution, Super Bowl Sunday is second only to Thanksgiving in food consumption.
Heart of Dixie is a local rescue and educational organization that is currently caring for about 30 horses which were victims of abuse or neglect. Horses are nursed back to health and provided training, if necessary, in an effort to find them new homes.
Since starting up operations last year, Heart of Dixie has adopted out two horses with another eight more pending. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating can log on to the web site: http://heartofdixieequinerescue.com/
