John E. Martin, Sr., M.D., F.A.C.S. has joined the Executive Board of the Ogeechee Tech Foundation, Inc. In making the announcement, Dawn Cartee,  OTC president, expressed her excitement in having someone with Dr. Martin’s credentials and experience join the Board.

“It is gratifying to have someone with Dr. Martin’s background take the time to work with our Foundation,” Cartee said. “Johnny brings a wealth of knowledge about many subjects, especially medical related issues. With so many of our programs being in the medical field, having someone with expertise in those areas is a great advantage.”

Dr. Martin has a long history of involvement in the local medical community where he joined the medical staff of the local hospital 20 years ago. Aside from a successful private practice for many years, Dr. Martin previously served as director of Medical Education at OTC prior to joining the East Georgia Regional Medical Center Comprehensive Wound Healing Center.

“My time spent at Ogeechee Tech helped me to gain a clear vision of the needs of medical education at the technical college level,” Dr. Martin said. “Medical programs are so prevalent at OTC that having a physician involved is very logical to help relate the needs of the medical programs to the health care community.”

Beth Mathews, executive director of Institutional Advancement at OTC, commented on Dr. Martin’s addition to the Board:

“What an advantage for us to have Dr. Martin working with our Foundation,” she said.  “He brings an element of understanding about our mission that will be unmatched in the medical community and beyond.”

Dr. Martin’s addition to the Foundation is timely in that the Foundation annual campaign for supporting OTC programs is in May, Mathews said.
