A special icon for content produced by the Statesboro Herald is now available on Apple's 3-G i-Phones and i-Pod Touch mobile devices, publisher Randy Morton announced Wednesday.
“It's just another way we've added audience to our newspaper,” Morton said.  “We've had the ability to view our video shows on smart phones for a while now. This new icon just makes it easier for these mobile devices to find and load information faster. It's a world wide network that's growing rapidly and is also popular with local users.”
Currently available for mobile viewing are video shows like Studio Statesboro, Prep Sports Blitz, Boro Live Update, Eagles Nest and Get Fit.
Top story links to the statesboroherald.com Web site are also available as part of the new App.
According to executive editor and supervising producer Jim Healy, the App also should be a good public relations tool for Statesboro and Bulloch County.
“It definitely puts Statesboro on the world map,” he said. “Now anyone can get the latest local news headlines and video shows from the Statesboro Herald anywhere on the globe with 3-G access.”
Users with i-Phones or i-Pod Touch mobile devices can download the new “Big S” Statesboro icon by going to the App Store and searching the word “Statesboro.”
