Boro crime: Two men rob South Main Street Sonic
Robbers hit South Main eatery about 12:15 a.m. Monday

   Two men robbed a local fast food restaurant just after midnight early Monday morning and took money from an employee counting the night’s deposit.
    Statesboro Police Det. Kelphie Lundy is investigating the robbery, which took place around 12:15 a.m. Monday.
    According to reports, two men entered Sonic on South Main Street while the victim counted money taken in that day. Another employee was also inside the restaurant when one of the men struck the victim in the face.
    The suspect took the victim’s Blackberry cell phone from her shirt pocket and damaged the restaurant phone, then snatched the night deposit bag, which held an undisclosed amount of money, reports stated.
    The victim was not seriously injured, and  the other employee who witnessed the robbery was not injured, Lundy said.
    No one saw whether the suspects were armed, he said.
    The men fled in an unknown direction, according to reports.’
