Georgia law requires all boaters born on or after Jan. 1, 1998, to take a boating education course before operating a motorized vessel on the state's waters. This requirement is an effort to educate boaters and increase safety awareness. Persons needing to meet these requirements can take online courses or a classroom course offered by conservation officers at select locations around the state. A classroom course will be offered on July 9 at City Hall in Brooklet. This course will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and requires pre-registration. To register or for more information, call the Georgia DNR Law Enforcement Office in Metter at (912) 685-2145.
