Eastern Heights Baptist Church will host a community blood drive with Shepeard Community Blood Center Sat., April 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to supply blood for victims of the Imperial Sugar refinery explosion. For 25 years, the Shepeard Community Blood Center has been the only provider of all blood products to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta where the victims are being treated.
Since the accident, the Joseph M. Still Burn Center has used over 8,800 blood products provided by Shepeard Community Blood Center. Since 2003 over 400 people from local counties were treated at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, the regional burn center for this section of the country.
