Investigators believe an armed robbery Wednesday night at a Clito convenience store may be related to others in the region.

Around closing time, a lone black man dressed in all black, wearing a black mask and brandishing a gun, held up the clerk at the Valero store at the intersection of Kyle Sorrell Road and Highway 301 North, said Bulloch County sheriff’s Capt. Todd Hutchens.

No one was injured, and the offender escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

He was tracked to where it appears he entered a vehicle and left, he said.

Bulloch County sheriff’s investigators “are working with several counties, including Evans,” to solve the rash of armed robberies at Dollar General stores and some area convenience stores, he said.

Recently, two Dollar General stores in Bulloch County — one in Brooklet and one on Akins Pond Road — were robbed. In addition to the Valero on Wednesday, the Five Points convenience store on Burkhalter Road was also robbed several days ago, he said.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Hutchens at (912) 764-1787.
