The trio of DeAnthony Stevens, Linda Carlson and Tiffany Weathers organized the "Love of Larry" Basketball tournament held all day Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club Of Bulloch County on Denmark Street in Statesboro.

The tournament is named in honor of the late Larry Parks, who was 17 when he took his own life earlier this year. Parks was the victim of vicious bullying before his tragic death and Stevens thought of holding a tournament to raise money to help pay for Cary Trivanovich, a nationally renowned expert on bullying, to come speak in Statesboro.

Weathers and Carlson are helping start the "For the Love of Larry Project," which will be part of the Boys and Girls Club and target efforts to educate the community about the problem of bullying. Funds raised Saturday also will help pay for a headstone to mark Parks' grave.

If you would like to learn more about the project, call Carlson at (912) 489-6428 or Weathers at (912) 489-7134.
