Author Riggs coming to OTC

    The author of two prize-winning novels, Jack C. Riggs will appear at Ogeechee Technical College at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday in the auditorium of the Joseph E. Kennedy Building.
    Riggs' appearance is the next installment of Ogeechee Tech's Southern Authors in Residence. series "When the Finch Rises" and "The Fireman's Wife" are two of his most well-known works and Riggs also holds the position of writer-in-residence at Georgia Perimeter College near Decatur. He is also associate professor of English at the college.
    His two books, both set in the South of the 1960s and '70s, are centered on character development and relationships, one on the ties between two young boys, and the other on the strained bonds of marriage.
    Dr. Lynn Futch, library services coordinator for Ogeechee Tech, is responsible for putting the Southern Authors series together.
    “Everyone is invited to attend this presentation,” she said. “While we are excited to have our employees and students enjoy Mr. Riggs' visit, we would like to also invite the public to this event which is free of charge.”
    Following a discussion of his latest book, and a question and answer period, Riggs will be available in the Kennedy lobby to autograph copies of his books.
