A Brooklet-area man faces charges of child molestation, said Bulloch County Sheriff Noel Brown.
Harvey Wayne Johnson, 68, Cleary Road, is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail, charged with child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, exploitation of a child and eavesdropping. More charges are pending, he said.
“Over the past few days the investigators of the sheriff’s office have been conducting interviews and obtaining further evidence” regarding the allegations against Johnson, alleged to have victimized a 13-year-old female unrelated to him, Brown said. “Based on the case investigation at this time, a warrant was issued for Mr. Johnson’s arrest.”
Johnson was arrested Tuesday and booked into the jail around 10:15 p.m., according to jail records.
Brown said he would like to “express to the community that the sheriff’s office will be diligent and thorough in protecting and preserving the peace in Bulloch County, but especially when our children are at stake.”
The investigation into allegations against Johnson is ongoing with more criminal charges to follow, he said. Further information “will come at a later date.”
