Three men suspected in a June home invasion in Newington are behind bars, said Bahan Rich, special agent-in-charge of the Statesboro office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Kemel Marquail Thomas, 20, of Millen; Nicholouis Rashad Devine, 25, of Register; and Deion Rodriguez Gant, 20, of Oliver, each have been charged in connection to a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred at a Pryor Road home in Newington, Screven County, on June 20, he said.

All three face charges of armed robbery, burglary, first-degree cruelty to children and false imprisonment. In addition, Gant is charged with aggravated assault.

"At the time of the incident, the suspects approached the victim at her house and requested help in making a phone call. When the victim was distracted, the suspects forced their way into her home," Rich said. "Also present in the home was the victim's minor children."

Gant is being held at the Screven County Jail, while Thomas and Devine are in the Bulloch County Jail, he said.

Assistance in the case was provided by the Statesboro Police Department, the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team, Rich said.
