Mr. Don Thigpen of Portal and Ms. Ruth Thigpen of Statesboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Donna Leigh Thigpen of Statesboro, to Jason Matthew Williams, son of Mr. Matthew Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ms. Cam Williams of Phoenix, Ariz.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Lee and the late Frank Lee of Sylvania and the late Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Thigpen of Portal. Miss Thigpen is a graduate of Bulloch Academy and received a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Georgia Southern University. She is employed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston as a registered nurse.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Adra Beth Williams and the late Russell Williams of Henderson, Nev., and Connie and Bill Kilborne of Cali Mesa, Calif., and the late D.J. Adler of Burbank, Calif. Major Williams is a graduate of West Jordan High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, received a Bachelor of Arts from Perdue University and a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle University. He is a commercial pilot employed by Continental Airlines and is a C-17 pilot in the Air Force Reserves.
    The couple is having a private ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland, and will return to a reception in Statesboro on April 10, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the Forest Heights Country Club.
