Mr. and Mrs. William Kent Moore Jr. of Statesboro are very proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Virginia Harrison Moore, to Rodrigo Alves Vieira, formerly of Recife, Brazil.
Virginia is the granddaughter of the late Judge J. Lane Johnston and Jan Thomas Johnston and the late William Kent Moore and Elaine Moore Shallcross.
Rodrigo is the son of Juleide Maria and Mozart Vieira and is the grandson of Manoel and Clementina Maria Alves and Deusdedith Mariano and Iradie Vieira Lins.
The couple met in 2018 while they were both attending study abroad language programs in Freiburg, Germany. They were married in the Statesboro First United Methodist Church on March 21, 2020, in a very small ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.
After a year and a half of waiting to celebrate with friends and family, the couple will have a Blessing of the Marriage ceremony on Nov. 6 in the St. Francisville United Methodist Church in St. Francisville, Louisiana. A reception is to follow at the St. Francisville Inn, which is owned by the bride’s uncle, Jim Johnston, and his husband, Brandon Branch.
Virginia was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority at Georgia Southern University before transferring to the University of Georgia. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in entertainment and media studies from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and is currently completing a second degree in fashion merchandising and apparel design from Georgia Southern University.
Rodrigo attended university in Recife, Brazil, and is currently employed as a senior software engineer at Zendesk.
Friends of the bride’s family are hosting a shower for the couple after their return from the Blessing of the Marriage ceremony.
The couple currently resides in Statesboro.
