Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hopkins Jr. of Waycross, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Christie Maree Hopkins of Statesboro, to Daniel Adam Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Long of Statesboro.
       The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.E. "Ed" Hopkins of Waycross and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Zachry of Waycross. Christie is a 2001 graduate of Ware County School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences and is a 2004 graduate of Valdosta State University, with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Marketing. She is employed by State Farm Insurance.
       The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. "Shorty" Long of Statesboro and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ray Hendrix of Statesboro. He is a 2000 graduate of Statesboro High School and is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia, with a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communications. He is the owner of Larry’s Giant Subs.
        The couple has planned to wed on May 15, 2010, at 3 p.m. in Antigua, West Indies.
