Mrs. Kitty H. Fries of Statesboro announces the engagement of her daughter, Katherine Mercedes Nicole of Leesburg, Georgia, to Cory Wayne Bell, son of Donna C. Melton of Elloree, South Carolina, and Mr. Robert F. Bell of Sylvester, Georgia.
    The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Steven A. Fries. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Doris S. Fries and the late Mr. Norman W. Fries Sr. of Claxton, Ga., and Mrs. Victoria G. Hudson and the late Mr. Joseph E. Hudson of Savannah. A graduate of Bulloch Academy, she attended Georgia Southern University and is a graduate of Southeastern School of Neuromuscular & Massage Therapy. Katherine also graduated, cum laude, with a BBA in Marketing from Georgia Southwestern State University.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. Donald T. Carraway and the late Mrs. Willie Pearl Carraway of Albany, Ga., and Mrs. Imogene S. Bell and the late Mr. Robert E. Bell Jr. of Sylvester, Ga. He is a graduate of Lee County High School and holds a degree in Industrial Electrical Technology from South Georgia Technical College.
    The couple has planned to wed on November 12th at 5 p.m. at The Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club in Jekyll Island, Ga.
