Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hankins

    Kate Barton became the bride of Jay Hankins during a 2 p.m. ceremony held on March 10, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Statesboro, Ga. The Reverend Daniel Lewis officiated.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barton of Demorest, Ga., and is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stuart E. Barton Jr. and the late Rev. and Mrs. William F. Holderman.
    The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Claude Hankins and is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Hankins and the late Mr. Albert R. Krell and Mrs. Elougia Solis Krell.
    Given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barton, the bride wore an elegant white A-line dress. It was romantically tiered, with a strapless neckline and a touch tradition with satin buttons down the length of the sweep train. At her waistline, the bride wore a satin sash, embellished with crystals and silver beading.
    Rachel Beasley, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Beth Clark, sister of the bride; Laurie Pippin, sister of the bride; Meredith Brown, friend of the bride; and Stephanie Rush, friend of the bride. River Beasley, friend of the bride, was flower girl.
    Gary Hankins served as his son's best man. Groomsmen/ushers were Eric Hankins, brother of the groom; Michael Hankins, brother of the groom; Evan Ellington, cousin of the bride; and Ryan Wood, friend of the groom. Julian Clark, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.
    A Scripture reading was presented by Randi Alderman, friend of the bride.
    Following the ceremony, a reception was held in Carlton Hall of the First Presbyterian Church. Servers included Lisa Barton, Tina Christie, Haley Ellington, Lois Rodgers and Lisa Temples. Music was provided by Dr. Don Connell and Anslee Connell.
    The couple now resides in Statesboro.
