Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Akins (and Kathy Akins) of Register announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Akins of Register, to Cy Gilbreth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marty Gilbreth (and Linda Gilbreth).

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Wanda Reeves of Portal, Ga., Franklin Akins and Linda Akins of Register. Samantha recently graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and food science and will attend Saint Louis University in the fall for a nutrition therapy dietetic internship.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Benny and Judy Gilbreth of Claxton, Ga., and James and Lou Greenwell of Glendale, Ky. Cy graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in both logistics and intermodal transportation and marketing. He is currently employed at the corporate offices of Nestlé Purina in Saint Louis, Mo.

The couple has planned to wed on June 4th, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern University.
