Mr. & Mrs. John Wood
    John and Carla Wood were wed August 19, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro, Ga.
    The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents, Tom Wood of Milledgeville, Ga., and Jane Wood of Brooklet, in the Family Life Center at Greensboro First United Methodist Church. After the meal, the couple presented their wedding party and parents with gifts of appreciation.
    The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Richard Chewning.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Kenneth Moore. She wore an ivory strapless gown featuring a simple A-line silhouette and a sweetheart neckline. The bride carried a bouquet of white, pink and chocolate roses and calla lilies.
    The maid of honor was Ashley Wheaton. Bridesmaids included the bride’s sisters, Sara Beth and Kimberly Moore; the groom’s sister, Katherine Wellman; Traci Thurmond, Niki Wing, Marilynn Hopkins and Laura Thompson.
    The bridesmaids wore long strapless gowns, cinnamon in color, with a champagne sash. They carried tussie mussies filled with white, pink and chocolate roses.
    The best man was the father of the groom, Tom Wood. Groomsmen included the brother of the bride, Daniel Moore; the brother of the groom, Brian Wood; and Ross Newman, Justin Jones, Chad Starling, Kenneth Knight and Wesley Lee.
    Guests were greeted by Kathy Cawthon and Jan Thurmond as they entered the church. The bride’s former youth ministers, Dan and Leigh Randall, read the Scripture passages during the ceremony. Musicians were Jana Ratliff and Neal Dolvin.
    The reception was hosted by Kenneth and Paula Moore, the parents of the bride, at their home in Greensboro, Ga. The reception guests were entertained by John Dunn and The Jazz Man Band.
    As the couple left the reception, guests lit their pathway with sparklers as fireworks exploded in the sky.
    The couple honeymooned at Sandal’s Regency Golf Resort and Spa on Saint Lucia in the British Virgin Islands. They have built a house in Lexington, Ga., where they now reside.
    Carla is currently employed by The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences as the director of the Athens Conference Office and John is employed by Piedmont Pulp, Inc. in Laurens, South Carolina as a procurement forester.
