Renee Roesel, granddaughter of Albert and Tappy Roesel of Statesboro, was honored last week as the top chemical engineering student in the 2011 graduating class at Georgia Tech.

Renee is the third generation Roesel to graduate from Georgia Tech, joining her grandfather Albert and uncle Greg Roesel. She plans to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall for graduate studies.

Albert Roesel graduated from Tech in 1938 and is one of the university's longest continuously contributing alums, having donated to Georgia Tech for 73 years. President Peterson recognized Roesel for his many years of contributions at the luncheon.
